Sawyer’s character was originally intended to be an older, dapper, suit-wearing urban con man from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line in the audition and then kicked a chair and swore loudly in frustration, the writers liked the edge it brought to Sawyer’s character and decided to write him on Sawyer as a more southern and darker drifter. Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon”, which becomes an important plot point in the final season.

LOST transcended TV drama writing and incorporated the theme when it burst onto the scene in 2004. That was 14 freaking years ago and the show is still going strong. Serious.
Jack, Kate, Saywer, Hugo, Locke, Sayid and yes, even Benjamin Linus' the story was done in a way that hasn’t been done since
My then 16-year-old son said it was the best written show of the time, and now, in his 30s and a writer himself, he maintains that commitment to this day: all other shows follow in shadow LOST.
