Sawyer was originally supposed to be an older, urban con artist from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line during his audition, then kicked a chair and cursed loudly in frustration, the writers liked the playfulness he brought to Sawyer’s character and decided to write Sawyer as a more Southern, dark drifter. Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon,” which becomes a major plot point in the final season.

When LOST burst onto the scene in 2004, they had transcended television drama writing and self-contained thematic theory. That was 14 crazy years ago, and the show still holds up. Seriously.
