After kidnapping Santa Claus (codename: Red One), the head of security at the North Pole (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most notorious hunter (Chris Evans) to roam the globe. For Prvi osvetnik: Rat heroja (2016) and Will Smith matched Kralj Richard (2021) with $40 million.
Johnson’s previous highest paydays were $22 million for Krstarenje junglom (2021) and $20 million for Fast and Furious: Hobbs i Shaw (2019). Since the film was slated for a direct-to-video release, Johnson’s Red One salary may have increased to make up for the lack of a box office hit. (Screen Rant). This was only watched in theaters on the day it was released.
It’s not my favorite Christmas movie, but I enjoyed watching something a little different, but still had a lot of Christmas magic. The plot centers on the main characters’ quest to find and return Santa Claus after he has been kidnapped. Lots of adventures and pranks along the way. Some were hit and some were missed!
As with all Christmas movies of this genre, enjoy it for what it is. These types of movies should never be about real life, 2 hours of immersion in a world of action and magic. Not the best or worst movie I’ve seen, but definitely one I’d recommend for this time of year. But as I always say, don’t worry about the reviews!
