When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type”; and prepared to audition for people like Ford.
Segel told Goldstein that they should at least take it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that the project had been brought to Harrison Ford, generating interest from other notable actors. In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he was elated nonetheless.
It’s fun pure and simple. Precisely written, superbly acted, enough pathos to keep it from being The Big Bang Theory for the middle class, and a joy to watch. Yes, real therapists wouldn’t do that, but anyone with a functioning brain cell would know that criticism from this point of view is just negativity to downgrade.
Yes, but no one is offended and no need to assume, FYI, I worked with a gay man who was exactly the stereotype shown here. The real success here is blending the seriousness and grief of therapy with the growing pains of life at different ages, stages and walks of life and making it funny. Finally, who knew what a great light comedy actor Harrison Ford was?

When I heard about this movie, I immediately thought of this year’s “Substance.” Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore are both actresses who were huge stars in their youth and their careers “were intertwined” their appearance and at a certain age, they stopped getting roles in prestigious Hollywood productions, but this year they got roles that allow them to be on the lips of moviegoers again.
However, Demi played phenomenally in an extremely original and daring body horror film and her role will be remembered as one of the best comebacks in the history of cinema. well, she plays well in this film and proves that she can be a good dramatic actress, but she is held back by the film itself, which is too conventional, does not take risks and does not delve into the psychology of the main character, not to mention the completely unwritten secondary characters. There are some interesting plot threads, including: clashes between the characters over which performances they undertake in various clubs are art and which are pornography, but these interesting moments are quickly cut to sentimental and uninteresting scenes, such as Pamela dancing in the street in Las Vegas.
I didn’t like Jamie Lee Curtis in this film, who acts as if she’s in a completely different film from the others. The plot is fairly predictable – we know how the conflicts between the characters will be resolved and that certain elements introduced at the beginning will return at the end. I think it must have been part of the artistic vision, but it’s done so clumsily and inconsistently that it feels more like an accident.
But at least “The Last Showgirl” is only an hour and 25 minutes long, so it’s not a tiring experience.
