American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Line of Events
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how, thanks to her exceptional mind, she manages to solve a crime while rearranging evidence during her shift cleaning for the police department.. Despite her extremely high IQ, excellent memory and vast knowledge of the arcane, Morgan makes a number of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a law show on TV would know not to make. In the first episode, for example, she obtains a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court: illegally obtained evidence. It also could not be used to obtain other evidence: a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”.
Kind of like a secret superpower
In episode 2, she is reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene and in #3, she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making everything she removed no longer admissible in a court of law. HPI Remake (2021). I’m really a sucker for any show/movie that features someone who has a unique ability hidden behind a personality that just doesn’t match. The main character has just that.
She plays the part of exhausted so well!
It seems like her life is a bit of a mess, she’s all over the place, but… she’s incredibly smart and notices details that other savvy people miss. I was already a fan of Kaitlin, so it’s no surprise that I love her here too. I appreciate that each episode solves the case.
This is perfect
I’m tired of a show that drags on for a whole season or more. Just give me a solid story and a conclusion in under an hour! Well paced, with some funny jokes and overall just enjoyable to watch. I can’t wait to see more episodes.
A solid MC to root for
I just hope they don’t cancel it after one season like everyone is doing these days.
