Naoko Yamada’s fifth feature film
Line of Events
A girl who can see the colors in people’s hearts joins a group with two other people. The Colors Within tells the story of Totsuko Higurashi (Sayu Suzukawa), a young girl who sees the colors in anyone’s heart whenever she encounters them. Together with her friends, she founds a group, namely Kimi Sakunaga (Akari Takaishi) and Rui Kagehiro (Taisei Kido).
“The Flower Within” is a great film
Director Naoko Yamada gave us a charming film, quite funny, the last scene of which will make you cry. However, it’s not as perfect as Look Back (2024) or The Boy and the Heron (2023), two other animated films I’ve seen recently. The animation is stunningly beautiful and is the highlight of the film.
Vocal performance is perfect
Memorable songs. Sayu Suzukawa is excellent as Totsuko Higurashi. Akari Takaishi is wonderful as Kimi Sakunaga.
The cast is great
Taisei Kido is wonderful as Rui Kagehiri. The Colors Within is a must-see for anime fans. Watch it on a bigger screen for an even more memorable experience.
