Segel told Goldstein that they should at least take it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that the project had been brought to Harrison Ford, generating interest from other notable actors. In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he was elated nonetheless.
Are some characters stereotypes?
It’s fun pure and simple. Precisely written, superbly acted, enough pathos to keep it from being The Big Bang Theory for the middle class, and a joy to watch. Yes, real therapists wouldn’t do that, but anyone with a functioning brain cell would know that criticism from this point of view is just negativity to downgrade.
A complete revelation and a show worth watching just for him
Yes, but no one is offended and no need to assume, FYI, I worked with a gay man who was exactly the stereotype shown here. The real success here is blending the seriousness and grief of therapy with the growing pains of life at different ages, stages and walks of life and making it funny. Finally, who knew what a great light comedy actor Harrison Ford was?
