Charles, a pensioner, is given a new lease on life when he answers a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in a secret investigation at a nursing home. after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says: “The Mole Agent” documentary is powerful because it makes people feel a remarkably similar feeling regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way: “I need to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: is our show basically making us feel like we want to call our mothers?
Before you know it, you’re so engaged that you just have to know the crime thriller!
To be honest, at first glance I have to admit I wasn’t really sure if the show was something I would be remotely interested in, but somehow it managed to draw me in. All of the characters are extremely easy to love and you can very easily recognize them from a person in your life.
It’s also a gentle reminder that we’re all here trying to do the same thing, live and live
We enjoy life so we might as well try our best to get along and most importantly be kind to each other. My favorite quote from the show is “Every great thing in your life feels like a miracle when you look back.” Very poetic because it resonates with all of us.
I hope you watch it and recognize and realize what you need
I also admit that it was a bit odd to see Ted Danson in this role, especially if you’re used to him as the Cheers character “Sam”; but very early on, “Charles” tugs at the heartstrings and doesn’t leave any sad memories of “Sam.” A bittersweet, yet tender reminder that Father Time is not one of the favorites. Empathize with the daily challenges that some in our society and in our lives struggle with on a daily basis.
